Osmo Action 5 Pro Might Be the First Pro Action Camera From DJI

There’s buzz around DJI potentially dropping a fresh action camera, the Osmo Action 5 Pro, catching the eye of tech enthusiasts and gadget buffs alike.

Thanks to a keen-eyed DJI leaker, Igor Bogdanov, the news broke after he discovered a regulatory filing on the UAE’s Telecommunications and Digital Government Regulatory Authority website.

Osmo Action 5 Pro Might Be the First Pro Action Camera From DJI

Although this juicy tidbit hasn’t made its way to the US FCC database yet, it’s already stirring conversations and we might soon find FCC filing as well.

The upcoming model, tagged with the “Pro” name, suggests that this isn’t just a minor update. We’re looking at possible top-tier enhancements that could set it up as a strong rival to the GoPro Hero 12 Black.

Remember, the Osmo Action 4 rolled out just this past August and has been holding its own in the market. However, this “Pro” model could be a game-changer with some serious upgrades.

Rumors are swirling about the inclusion of a whopping 1-inch sensor. If true, this would mean a noticeable jump from the Osmo Action 4’s 1/1.3-inch CMOS sensor, putting it in league with the likes of Insta360 One R and even the Insta360 Ace Pro known for their impressive specs.

This is especially notable considering DJI’s recent release, the Osmo Pocket 3, also came with a 1-inch sensor, making it a conceivable addition to the new action camera.

The upgrade list might also extend to better battery life and video chops. We’re talking about potentially beefier photography options and crisper, high-resolution video capabilities that truly warrant the “Pro” label. Of course, beefed-up features could mean a beefed-up price tag, especially in comparison to the Osmo Action 4’s current $299 shelf price.

The anticipation is high, and if DJI lives up to these expectations, the Osmo Action 5 Pro could really shake things up in the action cam arena. Keep your eyes peeled for more details as they emerge.
