Insta360 Go 3 Release Date
People have been speculating about the Insta360 Go 3 for more than a year now. We were expecting it in mid 2022 but that didn’t happen. So, do we have any official new about the Insta360 Go 3 release date?
Not yet. But there are some whispers and rumors in different communities which suggest the release is early spring probably in April 2023.
Insta360 also marked the current Insta360 Go 3 “Out of Stock” on its official website meaning you can’t buy the Go 2 anymore. This only happens when the next version is about to hit the market.

So based on the speculations, rumors and company actions, we can safely assume that we will be seeing the new Insta360 Go 3 sometimes this spring.
It is important to note that the direct competitor GoPro will also be releasing its next version of 360 action camera, the GoPro Max 2 in mid 2023 so will Insta360 be able to beat the big guys to the market? Let’s see.
Insta360 Go 3 Specs (Speculative)
Although we don not have an official word for what we can expect in the Go 3, we can speculate the new specs based on the Go 2 features, the latest market trends and competitor products.
Here is what I think we will see in the new Insta360 Go 3 in terms of features and improvements over the last model.
Camera Resolution
The Insta360 Go 3 is expected to offer several key upgrades from its predecessor, the Insta360 Go 2. One of the most notable improvements is expected to be a higher camera resolution.
The new Go 3 camera might offer even higher quality video and photo capabilities than the already impressive 2K @ 50 fps of the Insta360 Go 2. Although this seems tough considering the smaller size of the camera, we can expect a 4K recording with the Go 3.
Another area of improvement is expected to be wider dynamic range, allowing the camera to capture a greater range of tones in high-contrast situations, producing even more detailed and lifelike images.
Additionally, the Insta360 Go 3 might offer higher frame rate when shooting Slow Motion. The Go 2 shoots at 120fps which is pretty good but we might see an improved 240fps keeping the current industry trends in mind.
Battery life
Battery life is another area that fans predict the Insta360 Go 3 will improve upon, with some hoping for an extended recording time beyond the unimpressive 15 minutes of continuous recording with stabilization offered by the Insta360 Go 2.
There hasn’t been any major breakthrough in the battery technology since Go 2 was released so the only way they can increase the battery life is either make the Go 3 slightly bigger or optimized the software more for better power consumption.
For me at least, the small size of the Go 2 was a major selling point. I hope they keep the Go 3 size the same (so all my accessories don’t go to waste) and find other ways to make the battery life better.
Underwater shooting
Finally, greater water resistance is also on the list of fan predictions for the Insta360 Go 3, with some hoping for a camera that can be used in even more extreme environments than the current IPX8 rating of the Insta360 Go 2, which is waterproof up to 13 feet (4m).
One of the key areas of improvement that fans are hoping for is in the design of the dive case lens.
Specifically, they are hoping that the lens section of the dive case will be made in a dome shape rather than a flat shape, in order to maintain a proper field of view when using the camera underwater.
Custom shooting modes
Another common request among fans is the addition of a “Custom” mode, which would allow users to set their desired camera settings and functions through the charge case or mobile app, and then store these settings in the camera for use without the need for constant connection.
Some more “wish list” items
Status indicator LED: An indicator light on the backside to help confirm when the camera is on or off without having to turn it around.
MicroSD card in case: Some fans are also hoping for a micro SD card slot to be added to the charge case, as well as the ability to easily transfer camera memory to the SD card.
Tripod mount position: Another wish among fans is for the charge port and tripod screw on the charge case to be positioned in such a way that they do not interfere with each other.
Backward accessories compatibility: Finally, fans are hoping that the overall size of the camera will be kept about the same as it is, and that the camera will still be compatible with the accessories from the Insta360 Go 2.
These are just a few of the many wishes that fans have for the Insta360 Go 3, and it will be interesting to see which, if any, of these requests make it into the final product.
Regardless of the final specs and design, the Insta360 Go 3 is sure to be an exciting new addition to the Insta360 lineup.
