If you are a new DJI Mavic Mini owner and need to activate DJI Care Refresh or need to register your drone for the first time, you will need your drone serial number.
Your drone serial number is a unique 14-digit identification number required for various purposes. It is basically your drone’s number plate.
If you don’t know the DJI Mavic Mini serial number location, there are four places to get your S/N:
- You can find your DJI Mavic Mini serial number on the side of the box.
- You can find the S/N number on the propellers (if your drone is new)
- You can find it inside the battery compartment.
- You can find it from inside your DJI Fly App.
Let me explain each of them in a bit more detail so that you can know exactly where to look.
Apparently, users are confused about the DJI Mavic Mini serial number location, so let’s see where you can find the S/N.
DJI Mavic Mini serial number format
The DJI Mavic Mini serial number is a 14-digit alphanumeric number that is unique for each unit. Here is an example of a serial number you might find on your Mavic Mini.
1SZDJ1VB201295
Important note: To avoid confusion between the digit zero (0) and the English alphabet “O”, DJI only uses the digit zero in the serial number. So every ‘0’ is a digit zero.
DJI Mavic Mini serial number locations
You can look for your Mavic Mini serial number in these four places.
1. Serial number on the box sticker
This is the easiest way to find your Mavic Mini serial number if you still have your drone box.
Before shipping, DJI puts a removable sticker on every box containing the drone’s model, color, version, and serial number inside.
This is where you will find your drone’s serial number. It will have a barcode above it and the word “S/N” beside it, which means “Serial Number”

Remember to look for a pasted sticker on one of the clean sites.
The serial number is printed on the removable sticker. It is not printed on the body of the box itself (check the image above)
Serial number inside the battery compartment
If you don’t have your box or your mom (or wife) just threw it out, don’t worry; you can still find your Mavic Mini serial number inside the battery compartment.
Open the battery compartment cover and you will find the standard sticker label pasted on the door of the compartment.
Check the image below.

This is the most common location you can find your serial number.
Most people will lose their drone box but the S/N pasted inside the battery compartment pretty much remains there for as long as the drone exists.
Similarly, you can also find serial numbers for other DJI drones like the Mini 2 and DJI Mavic Air 2.
Serial number on the propellers
If you bought your Mavic Mini brand new, you will see the S/N number pasted on the propellers of the drone. Check the image below

However, if your Mavic Mini is not new and you bought it second-hand, the previous owner might have removed the sticker (the extra weight disturbs the propeller balance and produce extra noise)
Serial number inside the DJI Fly App
If you have already activated your DJI Mavic Mini, you can easily find your serial number inside the DJI Fly App.
This is helpful if you have lost your box and the sticker inside your battery compartment is erased with use over time.
To find your serial number via the DJI Fly App, follow the following simple steps:
- Open the App screen and tap on the 3-dots in the top right corner.
- From the menu, tap on the “About” section on the right.
- Scroll down, and you will see “Flight Controller SN” and a 14-digit alphanumeric number in front of it. This is your serial number.

The flight Controller is basically your main circuit board inside your drone that controls all the main functions. The serial number represents that specific flight controller.
If your drone undergoes a repair process after a malfunction and the main board is changed, your S/N will also change with it. The new board will be assigned the new serial number.
How to find DJI Remote Controller serial number
Just like your Mavic Mini flight controller has its serial number (which we usually refer to as the drone’s serial number), your DJI remote controller also has its own serial number.
For the controller, the serial number is printed on the sticker on the controller’s backside under the square QR code. See the image below

You can also check the serial number inside the DJI Fly App if the controller is registered with your account.
To do this, follow the instructions below:
- Open the App screen and tap on the 3-dots in the top right corner.
- From the menu, tap on the “About” section on the right.
- Scroll down, and you will see “Remote Controller SN” and a 14-digit alphanumeric number in front of it. This is your remote controller serial number.
You will need your remote serial number in case it malfunctions, and you need to claim a warranty or send it for repairs.
How to find Mavic Mini battery serial number
The DJI Mavic Mini battery also has its own serial number that is usually required when claiming warranty or sending the battery for repair/replacement.
If you are looking for your Mavic Mini battery serial number, you can find it printed on the back side of the battery at the bottom of the sticker.

Why do you need your drone serial number?
You will need your Mavic Mini serial number on various occasions. If you are here reading this blog, you need it already.
Below are a few other occasions where an S/N is needed.
Drone Registration
First of all, when you receive your drone, you are going to register it with the FAA before you can fly it.
During this registration, you will need to provide your drone S/N on the FAA website to register it. For complete instructions on how to register your drone, read my linked article.
DJI Care Refresh Insurance
Drone insurance is very common among users. Some opt for the DJI Care Refresh program, while others go with third-party insurance providers.
In either case, you will have to provide your drone serial number. It’s your drone’s unique identifier just like your car’s number plate.
Warranty & Repairs
In an unfortunate event of a crash or malfunction, you might need to get DJI’s help to fix your drone.
If your drone is under insurance or warranty, you will have to first provide your S/N to DJI so that they check your coverage.
Checking the authenticity of the drone
If you are buying your drone second-hand from someone else or from unofficial channels, it is important to check if it is authentic or not.
It is important because fake or refurbished drones are pretty common in the market and checking the serial number can save you from many frauds.
To check and verify the authenticity of the drone, you can input your drone serial number on the DJI website (here is the link) and the website will tell you which model it is and if & when it is activated.
Conclusion
You will need your serial number for both drone registration, and in case you need to purchase DJI care refresh insurance or claim a warranty.
You can find your serial number on the box sticker, your drone battery compartment, or your DJI Fly App.
