Where to Find DJI Mavic Air 2 Serial Number?

So you bought a new DJI Mavic Air 2 and now want to register your drone or get DJI Care Refresh but are not sure where to find your Mavic Air 2 serial number for it.

Your drone serial number is a unique 14-digit identification number required for various purposes. It is basically your drone’s number plate.

There are three ways to find your Mavic Air 2 serial number:

  • You can find your Mavic Air 2 serial number on the side of the box.
  • You can find it inside the battery compartment.
  • You can find it from inside your DJI Fly App.

There is a lot of confusion among the Mavic Air 2 users about the serial number on Mavic Air 2 due to how DJI has printed the serial number inside the battery compartment.

Let me explain each of them in a bit more detail so that you can find exactly what you are looking for.

Mavic Air 2 serial number format

The Mavic Air 2 serial number is a 14-digit alphanumeric number that is unique for each unit. Here is an example of a serial number you might find on your MA2.

3N3HB4W002001M

Important note: To avoid confusion between the digit zero (0) and the English alphabet “O”, DJI states that they only use the digit zero in the serial number. So every ‘0’ is a digit zero.

Serial number on the box sticker

This is the easiest way to find your Mavic Air 2 serial number if you still have your drone box.

Before shipping, DJI puts a removable sticker on every box containing the drone’s model, color, version, and serial number inside. This is where you will find your drone’s S/N.

Remember to look for a pasted sticker on one of the clean sites. The serial number is printed on the removable sticker, not the box itself.

Serial number inside battery compartment

If you don’t have your box or your mom or wife just threw it out, don’t worry; you can still find your Mavic Air 2 serial number inside the battery compartment.

Check the image below.

Take out the battery and look at the bottom of the sticker inside your battery compartment.

You will see a QR code and two numbers on the right of the QR code. This is where people get confused. Which one is the serial number?

Well, it’s actually a combination of the top and bottom strings. You will have to combine them to get your 14-digit serial number.

Due to a shortage of printing space, the serial number is split in half (not cool DJI, not cool)

You can find serial number for Mavic Air 2s in the same spot.

Serial number inside the DJI Fly App

If you have already activated your DJI Mavic Air 2, you can easily find your serial number inside the DJI Fly App.

This is helpful if you have lost your box and the sticker inside your battery compartment is erased.

To find your serial number via the DJI Fly App, follow the following simple steps:

  • Open the App screen and tap on the 3-dots in the top right corner.
  • From the menu, tap on the “About” section on the right.
  • Scroll down, and you will see “Flight Controller SN” and a 14-digit alphanumeric number in front of it. This is your serial number.

The flight Controller is basically your main circuit board inside your drone that controls all the main functions. The serial number represents that specific flight controller.

During the FAA drone registration process, you might also see a question about a Remote ID serial number, which DJI hasn’t come out with.

DJI Remote Controller serial number

Just like your Air 2 flight controller has its serial number (which we usually refer to as the drone’s serial number), your DJI remote controller also has its own serial number.

The Air 2 comes with two different remote controllers. One is the DJI Smart Controller with a screen on it. The other is DJI RC-N1 simple controller.

For both controllers, the Serial number is printed on the sticker on the controller’s backside beside the square QR code. Just like the battery compartment, it’s split into two halves.

You can also check the serial number inside the DJI Fly App if the controller is registered with your account.

To do this, follow the instructions below:

  • Open the App screen and tap on the 3-dots in the top right corner.
  • From the menu, tap on the “About” section on the right.
  • Scroll down, and you will see “Remote Controller SN” and a 14-digit alphanumeric number in front of it. This is your remote controller serial number.

You will need your remote serial number in case it malfunctions, and you need to claim a warranty or send it for repairs.
